2025 Health Delivery Projects
Our Health Delivery Research Project Grants provide support for health delivery research that directly impacts healthcare and health outcomes for New Zealanders.
The proposed research must (i) be in scope with the 2025 Health Delivery Research Investment Signal, (ii) have the potential to directly inform changes to health delivery policy, practice, or systems in New Zealand, with a clear line of sight to improved health or other social/economic impacts, and (iii) demonstrate a clear connection to a healthcare need. The HRC expects to fund a range of grant values and durations up to a maximum term of 5 years and a maximum value of $1.4 million.
Eligibility requirements
Your principal domicile and place of employment must be New Zealand to be eligible for a 2025 Health Delivery Research Project Grant. This requirement applies to both the first named investigator and the co-first named investigator. Your application must also have the support of your host organisation.
In addition, your research team must work in collaboration with key individuals in healthcare delivery settings. Named investigators should be based in health delivery settings with involvement to shape the research need, undertake the research, and identify translational potential.
You can only submit one application as the first named investigator or co-first named investigator in the 2025 Health Delivery Research Project Grant funding round.
Key changes from the previous year
For the 2025 Health Delivery Research Project funding round, we have updated the Health Delivery Investment Signal and score criteria to more strongly align with the HRC's strategic priorities and that of the health system.
For example, the Investment Signal now states the need for proposals to ensure a clear line of sight to improving health outcomes; inform changes to health delivery policy, practice, or systems; and consider the wider goals of the health and science systems and areas and communities with the highest health needs, as outlined in the Government Policy Statement on Health 2024-2027.
