2025 Māori Health Clinical Research Training Fellowships
Our Māori Health Clinical Research Training Fellowships provide an opportunity for Māori medical, dental and allied health professionals, who have a current clinical role, to undertake a PhD or equivalent qualification. A non-taxable stipend, university fees, and research expenses are available for up to three years full-time or four years part-time. The fellowship is particularly suited to health professionals who are seeking additional training for a career in a new clinical research discipline within New Zealand. A maximum of $260,000 is available.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for one of these scholarships, you'll need to be a New Zealand citizen or hold residency in New Zealand, and be of Māori descent. If you're a practising medical graduate, dental graduate, psychologist, nurse or other graduate with research ability, background training and expertise in fields relevant to clinical research, you're eligible to apply. You must also hold a current clinical role and enrol for an appropriate postgraduate qualification that has a research component (for example, medical and dental graduates progressing to MD or PhD, or nurses and other health professionals progressing to MHSc, DPH, MPH or PhD).
