2026 Ethics Summer Studentships
Ethics Summer Studentships support students to research and explore ethical issues facing New Zealand by working on a project under the supervision of an experienced researcher or ethicist. The value of the studentships is $7,500 and the duration is 10 weeks during the summer holidays.
Eligibility criteria
To apply for one of these studentships, you will need to be a New Zealand citizen or hold residency in New Zealand.
Application process
You will need to submit a full application online via HRC Gateway using the template provided below.
Applications open: 1 pm, 14 July 2026.
Applications close: 1 pm, 31 August 2026.
Choosing an ethics summer studentship category
Please choose one of following categories when you are applying for the Ethics Summer Studentship:
- Ethics Summer Studentship: This studentship focuses on general ethical issues associated with health.
- Dr Barry Poata Smith Ethics Summer Studentship: This studentship focuses on health and research ethics issues related to Māori, Pacific peoples, or under-represented communities.
