2023 Ethics Summer Studentships

Ethics summer studentships provide $7500 for students to research and explore ethical issues facing New Zealand by working on a project under the supervision of an experienced researcher or ethicist over 10 weeks during the summer holidays.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for one of these studentships, you'll need to be a New Zealand citizen or hold residency in New Zealand.

You'll need to submit a full application online via HRC Gateway using the template provided below.

Choosing an ethics summer studentship category

Please choose one of the following categories when you are applying for the ethics summer studentship:

  • Ethics Summer Studentship: This studentship focuses on general ethical issues associated with health.
  • Dr Barry Poata Smith Ethics Summer Studentship: This studentship focuses on health and research ethics issues related to Māori, Pacifica or under-represented communities.
