We've established this fellowship, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, to support high-quality research and Māori health research capacity in New Zealand. The fellowship focuses on the development of Māori health research knowledge, with a specific emphasis on equity and social investment that supports improving Māori health. The total value of this fellowship is $500,000 over four years.
To apply for this fellowship, you'll need to be a New Zealand citizen or hold New Zealand residency, and be of Māori descent. For the purposes of this fellowship, we consider emerging leaders as mid-career to senior researchers who have completed four to eight years of postdoctoral research, and who have a demonstrated track record and potential for leadership in an area of Māori health relating to social investment and equity. You won't be eligible for this fellowship if you have a track record of awarded HRC project grants as a first-named investigator or equivalent support from other funders in value and term.
Firstly, you'll need to register your intention to submit an application for this fellowship and then complete your registration online via HRC Gateway. After registration, you'll need to submit a full application online via HRC Gateway using the templates provided below. The final step is to send a signed hardcopy of your full application to the HRC.
